Professor of Philosophy, Philanthropy, and Women's Studies, 1982-2001
Anne Donchin, Ph.D. shaped the early development of the Women's Studies program at IU Indianapolis. Within a year of her arrival to campus in 1982, Donchin became active in Women's Studies and took on the role of program coordinator. The position title was later renamed director. Donchin helped guide the program through its early years of development and later served two additional years as director in the early 1990s.
Donchin was an active feminist and researcher in the field of bioethics. In 1992, she founded the International Network on Feminist Approaches to Bioethics and served in a leadership capacity within the organization for many years. Donchin served on the editorial board of numerous academic journals, most recently "Bioethics." She also co-edited the book, Embodying Bioethics: Recent Feminist Advances (1999) with Linda Purdy.
Donchin retired from IU Indianapolis in 2001 and served as an affiliated research scholar at the program in bioethics education at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine until her death in August 2014.
