Founding Dean, Honor's College
In July 2009, E. Jane Luzar, Ph.D. was appointed Dean of IU Indianapolis's new Honors College. She is currently working to develop the new school's programs and curriculum. The Honors College's goal is to provide talented students with the opportunity to undertake a more intensive college learning experience with like-minded peers. Luzar also serves as a professor of Natural Resource Economics within the School of Liberal Arts' Department of Economics and as a professor within the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She is the current director of the IU Indianapolis Common Theme Project, which promotes campus unity, conversation, and collaboration on timely issues that connect IU Indianapolis to central Indiana and the world. The 2013-2015 theme is Find Your Voice and Hear My Voice: Creating Civil Conversation.
Luzar came to IU Indianapolis from the University of Florida, where she served as Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences from 1999 to 2006. There, she supervised student services and programs, administered a distance education program, and oversaw the school's honor's program. Luzar is a former member of the Peace Corps.
