Hall Render Professor of Law Emeritus
A national expert on health law, Dr. Eleanor Kinney, J.D. joined the faculty of the School of Law in 1984. She is a widely published author and lecturer on the topics of the American health care system, medical malpractice, and health coverage for the poor. Kinney has also served as a consultant and advisor on health care law to numerous organizations and government agencies including President Clinton's task force on health care reform in the early 1990s.
In 1987, Dr. Kinney helped to found the widely-acclaimed William S. and Christine S. Hall Center for Law and Health at Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis. The center's mission is to conduct research on health law in Indiana and the United States, to interpret health care law, and to expand law school curriculum related to health care law. Kinney served as the founding director of the Center from 1987 until her retirement.
Dr. Kinney also founded the School of Law's Latin American Law Summer Program and served as its executive director until 2007. She also taught as an adjunct professor at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the School of Medicine.
