Ellen Poffenberger, SPHR, CCP worked in human resources at IU Indianapolis for 23 years. She oversaw a staff of thirty human resources professionals and was responsible for coordinating services and benefits for IU Indianapolis's almost 5000 employees. Poffenberger was Vice Chancellor from 1999 to 2010.
Poffenberger began working at IU Indianapolis in 1986 as Employee Assistance Coordinator in the Office for Human Resources. Over the years, she held numerous positions within Human Resources at IU Indianapolis, including Special Projects Coordinator, Manager of Special Projects, Hospital Liaison, and Manager of Compensation Services. She was involved in many aspects of Human Resources work at IU Indianapolis, including wage and salary reviews, training, orientation, recruitment, and administration of tax deferred annuity programs.
Poffenberger loved speaking on topics related to human resources and career advancement. She was a frequent presenter at local, regional, and national meetings and events. Poffenberger was also a founding member of the Indiana Chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. She served as the organization's first president in 2006.
Poffenberger retired in August 2010.
