Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development, IU Indianapolis Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, 2017-Present
Recently appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Development, Etta Ward is tasked with strategizing the advancement of research at IU Indianapolis. She oversees and implements new programs related to strategic planning of research programs. Ward’s work impacts departments campus-wide.
Ward joined IU Indianapolis in 2002 as a grant development coordinator after a career in the nonprofit sector. In 2003, she became Director of Research Development within the IU Indianapolis Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. During her years as Director, and later Executive Director, Ward managed 8 grant programs designed to support faculty research activity. She debuted effective strategies to help early-career faculty develop successful research programs. Her efforts are credited with advancing diversity within the research sector at IU Indianapolis.
