Professor of Dental Diagnostic Services
Gail Williamson, RDH, MS is an expert in oral and maxillofacial radiology. As Director of the Allied Dental Radiology Program, she oversees didactic and clinical instruction of dental assisting and dental hygiene students. She has published extensively on the topic.
Williamson has served two terms as a member of the IU Indianapolis Promotion and Tenure Committee. She is currently a member of the IU Indianapolis Commission on Women. In 2009, she was appointed to a 2-year term as a faculty fellow for faculty advancement. In this role, she worked with the office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties on issues related to promotion and tenure, faculty mentoring, and leadership development. In 2012, Williamson accepted a half-time position as Director of Faculty Enhancement in the IU Indianapolis Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer.
Williamson is the past president of several dental organizations, and has served as Councilor of the Section on Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology of the American Dental Education Association and Councilor of Academic Affairs and Chairman of the Allied Health Radiography Committee of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. In 2014, Williamson accepted a position as Executive Director of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Williamson has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards, most recently earning the 2009 IU Indianapolis Trustee Teaching Award.
