Chancellor's Professor of Microbiology & Immunology
As Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education at IU Indianapolis and Associate Dean for the Indiana University Graduate School, Janice Blum, Ph.D. leads campus efforts to develop graduate education. Blum supervises all aspects of graduate education at IU Indianapolis, including student recruitment, admissions, university-wide fellowships, transfer credit, thesis proposals, dissertation committees, student diversity, student academic standing, and student affairs. She also chairs the Graduate Affairs Committee. Blum works with faculty to review and develop graduate programs, courses, and procedures. She is also leading campus efforts to increase IU Indianapolis’s capacity for graduate education, particularly among doctoral and interprofessional programs.
Blum joined the IU School of Medicine in 1995. She is Chancellor’s Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. Blum studies immune responsiveness in humans and its role in protective immunity to tumors and pathogens, as well as susceptibility to autoimmune disease. For many years, she has played an active role in graduate programs at the IU School of Medicine. Blum also served as director of the National Institutes of Health sponsored training programs.
Blum holds a Ph.D. from Duke University Medical Center.
