She maintains the key indicators for the advancement of women first developed by the Task Force on the Status of Women in 1994 and reports these to the Diversity Council and Chancellor’s Cabinet. She successfully petitioned the administration to conduct a second faculty gender pay equity study in 2009 which was accomplished by the Office of Equal Opportunity. She regularly partners with local and national organizations to bring programming to the IU Indianapolis campus such as the Working Women in Transition series of the Indiana Commission on Women and the Start Smart Workshops of the WAGE Project and the American Association of University Women. As part of the 40th Anniversary of IU Indianapolis, she acquired funding and directed the construction of the archival website, “Women Creating Excellence at IU Indianapolis.”
From 2002 through 2008 she was a member of the Indiana Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counselor Licensing Board (now the Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board) and served as President of the board in 2004. In 2009, Ms. Grove was presented with an Award of Merit from the Indiana Association for Marriage and Family Therapy for her contributions to the profession.
From 2008-2010 she served as co-chair of the Multicultural Teaching Community of Practice which won the IU Indianapolis 2010 Joseph T. Taylor Award for Excellence in Diversity. Her research interests include domestic and international women’s leadership development, multicultural pedagogy and feminist jurisprudence. In November 2011, she received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Women’s Studies Association Women’s Center Committee. The award honors “women working in women’s centers/gender equity centers who have accomplished a significant endeavor to improve the lives of women, and have addressed gender equity, sexism and other forms of oppression.”
