Director of Diversity and Enrichment, Indiana University School of Nursing, 2011-Present
As Director of Diversity and Enrichment at the Indiana University School of Nursing, Marsha Baker, MS works with School of Nursing deans and administrators to strategize all aspects of recruitment and retention of underrepresented and international students. She also coordinates diversity and enrichment programming. Shortly after being appointed Director in 2011, Baker created the inaugural Breaking Myths of Nursing, Dentistry, and Medicine Interprofessional Summer Program. She continues to administer the annual program each summer.
Prior to her appointment as Director, Baker served as the Special Programs Coordinator/Advisor for SPAN in University College from 2008-2011. In this role, she worked with high school principals, guidance counselors, deans, and parents to achieve student success in college. She also handled all aspects of admission, enrollment, and orientation for SPAN students. Baker has also served as a Health & Life Sciences Academic Advisor and as a Joint Advisor for the School of Medicine Health Professions Programs and University College.
Baker serves on the Chancellor’s Diversity Cabinet, Diversity Leaders Committee, CAMMHS Advisory Board, IU Health Hospital Affinity Group, and Indiana Center for Nursing committee. She has won several awards for her service to IU Indianapolis, including the Chancellor’s Staff Council Multicultural Impact Award and the Sandra K. Neiman Staff Council Recognition Award.
