Martha Francois, Ph.D.
Dean, School of Liberal Arts, 1979-1981
In 1979, Martha Francois, Ph.D. became the first and only female dean in the history of the IU Indianapolis School of Liberal Arts. At the time, she was also one of the first female deans on campus. A Harvard graduate, Francois previously taught at Northeastern University in Boston. Francois's term as dean was short-lived; she resigned in 1981.
