Porter is also a member of the Chancellor's Diversity Cabinet.
To begin the 2014-2015 school year, the Department of Enrollment Services was transformed into the Division of Enrollment Management to better meet the needs of IU Indianapolis students. Porter was tapped to lead the new division, which will comprise the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Diversity Access and Achievement, Registrar, Office for Veterans and Military Personnel, Student Financial Services, Student Scholarships, and IU Indianapolis-Ivy Tech Office of Coordinated Programs.
Porter's service to IU Indianapolis includes terms as Vice-President and President of the IU Indianapolis Faculty Council. She has also served as Co-Secretary of the University Faculty Council. While serving as President, Porter was involved in the planning for the campus-wide Task Force on the Status of Women. She served as chair of the committee, whose work resulted in the formation of the IU Indianapolis Office for Women. Porter also helped to write a strategic initiatives grant that initially funded the new office.
Porter has received numerous awards, including the Frances Ekstam Outstanding Leadership Award of the Indiana Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Lucy Blair Service Award of the American Physical Therapy Association.
