Executive Associate Dean, IU School of Education
As Executive Associate Dean of the IU School of Education at IU Indianapolis, Robin Hughes oversees the school’s operations and students. Hughes also teaches courses in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. Her research interests include African American Students and Faculty Experiences, African American Students’ Educational Success, Critical Race Theory and Educational and Social Settings, and Student Athletes and Sports.
Hughes serves co-editor and co-founder of the Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletes in Education. She has also authored books, articles, and book chapters on the topic of race. Most recently, Hughes co-edited a forthcoming book, titled Dismantle This! Deconstructing Policy and Institutionalized isms through Critical Race Theory. The book examines the sustained presence of racism in academia that results from the continued use of exclusionary policies and procedures for administration and scholarship awards.
Hughes is a 2011 Chancellor’s Diversity Scholar Award winner. She is also the 2007 recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from Texas A&M University.
