Professor of English, 1987-2008
A member of the English faculty beginning in 1987, Sharon Hamilton, Ph.D. left a lasting impact on IU Indianapolis when she retired in 2008. Hamilton is a national expert on electronic portfolios and assessment and used her research interests to benefit IU Indianapolis. Hamilton led the development of the campus's electronic portfolio system while serving as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Associate Dean of the Faculties.
Additionally, Hamilton founded the Office of Campus Writing and served as its first director. She also founded the IU Indianapolis Center for Integrating Teaching. In 2000, Hamilton became one of the first three Chancellor's Professors at IU Indianapolis. She is the author of numerous books and plays.
Upon retirement, Hamilton moved to Torquay, United Kingdom.
