Former Assistant Dean of the Faculties
Sherree Wilson's long tenure in administration at IU Indianapolis began in 1988. Her positions have included Director of Minority Faculty Development, Associate Director of the IU Indianapolis Career Center, Assistant Director of Career and Employment Services at IU Indianapolis, Acting Director of Professional Development, Director of Multicultural Development, and Special Assistant to the Chancellor. Most recently, Wilson served as Assistant Dean of the Faculties and Assistant Clinical Professor in the School of Education.
As Assistant Dean of the Faculties, Wilson served as a key team member in IU Indianapolis's efforts to diversify the school's faculty and administration. Wilson managed efforts to recruit and retain less-represented faculty. She also provided career development consultations to graduate students. She co-directed the Next Generation at IU Indianapolis Leadership Development program for faculty from less-represented populations. In addition, Wilson served as campus director of the Pre-Faculty Fellow Partnership with Howard University and chaired the steering and advisory committees for the IU Indianapolis-Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School Early College Program.
Despite her busy schedule as Assistant Dean of the Faculties, Dr. Wilson taught classes in the School of Education and kept an active research schedule. While at IU Indianapolis, she researched advancement trends for faculty of color. Wilson also served on the boards of the Children's Organ Transplant Association, the Indianapolis Urban League, and the Madame Walker Theater Center.
Wilson left IU Indianapolis in 2012 to become Associate Dean for Cultural Affairs & Diversity Initiatives at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
