10th Anniversary
Ora H. Pescovitz, M.D., President and CEO of Riley Hospital for Children made the keynote address at the Celebration Luncheon marking the 10th year anniversary of the IUPUI Office for Women. The event was held at Noon on Tuesday, April 10th at the University Place Hotel.
Dr. Pescovitz is also the Executive Associate Dean for Research Affairs and the Edwin Letzter Professor of Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. As an executive associate dean, she has administered the IU School of Medicine's research program, which brings in more than $220 million per year in grants and contracts. She also oversees the Indiana Genomics Initiative, funded by $155 million in grants from the Lilly Endowment, which helped lay the research foundation for BioCrossroads and Indiana's life sciences economic initiatives.
Chancellor Charles R. Bantz made opening remarks at the event. Also at the luncheon special recognition was given to those who lead the way in establishing the office and the Commission on Women. Former directors and staff of the office, Kathleen Warfel, Kimberly Quaid de Cordon, and Rebecca Van Voorhis, and Rebecca Porter, Chair of the Task Force on the Status of Women were among those recognized.
