IU Indianapolis Campus Center Cultural Arts Gallery Exhibit
Title IX is the federal law that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. Since being enacted in 1972 it has had a profound impact on access to educational programs and opportunities for women and LGBTQ+ communities. A visual representation of its impact on US higher education and IU Indianapolis was exhibited in the Campus Center Cultural Arts Gallery during March 2023.
The exhibit included representations of various aspects of the story of Title IX: Title IX Origins, Champions of Title IX, Timeline for the Nation and IU Indianapolis, Impact on Professional Education, 50 years of progress at IU Indianapolis, Athletics, Today’s Issues, and Complaint Procedures.
The exhibit was sponsored by the IU Indianapolis Ad Hoc Committee Celebrating 50 Years of Title IX and the Office for Women. The exhibit was funded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
