Director: Kathleen S. Grove, MA, JD
Kathleen assumed the position of Director of the Office for Women in February of 2004. She has a diverse background of professional experiences from which to draw in her role as the director including her work as an attorney, a marriage and family therapist and a businesswoman. As the director, she builds bridges across campus and collaborates with other units and academic departments to help create an inclusive environment in which both women and men can succeed. She teaches for the Women’s Studies program in the IU School of Liberal Arts, Indianapolis. Courses she has taught include Advancing Women in Leadership, Women and the Law, and Women’s Rights around the World.
Kathleen holds a J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech is from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She holds two professional licenses in Indiana, both as an attorney and as a licensed marriage and family therapist. In addition, Kathy has training as a family mediator.
Prior to becoming the Office for Women director, Kathy was a psychotherapist for six years at The Julian Center, a counseling center and shelter for abused women and children. As a business woman, she has expertise in real estate development and management. As an attorney she worked for American Bar Association as the Assistant Consultant on Legal Education, advising on national standards and criteria for law schools.
